ROYAL ASCOT DAY 1

2.30 Queen Anne Stakes

Frankel  Win @ SP 1.18

Frankel is undefeated in his 10 career starts on flat turf. 100% SR (7-7) at 1 mile distance. 100% SR (3-3) at Ascot. 100% SR (6-6)in Group 1 races.
100% SR (10-10) with jockey Tom Queally. Had defeated coolly most of his rivals in this race especially A P's Excelebration (4-4).

It would be heartbreak for Frankel admirers if he loses for the first time!

Premio Loco  E/W @ SP 67/1

Chris Wall's 8yo gelding Premio Loco is the oldest runner in this race. He won the 2010 Summer Mile Stakes, his only start at Ascot. In great form this season with 2 wins from 2 starts. He got 22-7 (32%)-3-2 record on flat turf. With his regular jockey George Baker, 43% SR (12-28).

The 1st & 2nd favorite's in this race Frankel or Excelebration have never raced with this 8yo before. So, there is an advantage for him to sneak into second place atleast.

3.05 King's Stand Stakes

Wizz Kid  Win @ SP 7/1

2011 Coronation Stakes winning trainer Robert Collet's 4yo filly Wizz Kid came close second in the 2011 QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes, her only start at Ascot. Stone Of Folca  E/W @ SP 41/1

Backed Folca at Epsom Dash where he ran and won brilliantly, defied the tough draw at stall 2. I couldn't ignore him quickly this time too as he is back in form.
Luke Morris takes the ride again. 2-4 when riding Folca. He is in form with 2 wins from 4 starts yesterday at Warwick. Though he got here an overall strike rate of 6% (3-50) at this racecourse in the last 5 seasons.
John Best's stable in good form this turf season showing profit of £63.00. His stable got overall 14% SR (2-40) in the last 5 seasons at Ascot showing profit of £95.00.

Stone of Folca is drawn high at stall 21. He weighs at 9-4 and got mark of 100. Hoods on as usual.

Stone Of Folca won his first race on return since gelded and lot more can be expected from him. Although he has not run on Sft/GS going, his sire got decent strike rate with his progenies on today's going. Also in-form jockey in the saddle again. Best's stable yet to find winners at Royal Ascot since his double wins (Golden Jubliee Stakes & Windsor Castle Stakes) in 2008. Stone Of Folca might be the answer. E/W claims!

3.45 St James's Palace Stakes

Power  Win @ SP 5.2

A P O'Brien is a regular winner of St James's Palace Stakes. Won this race in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2008 & 2009. His 3yo colt Power got 8-5-2-0 record on flat turf. Lines Of Battle   E/W @ SP 10/1

Last year's Coventry Stakes winning trainer-jockey, A P O'Brien & Ryan Moore will be saddling 2yo colt Lines Of Battle. LOB won impressively on his maiden debut at Curragh. Brien's stable won this Stakes 5 times (1997, 1999, 2001, 2002 & 2011). This time his stable will be sending LOB and Cristoforo Colombo which I think are not strong enough to win the Stakes. But E/W possibilities are not ruled out for LOB as Ryan got 12% SR (7-59) with 2yos at Ascot in the last 5 seasons.

5.00 Ascot Stakes

Al Khawaneej  Win @ SP 9/1

Brilliant start with Al Khawneej for David Simcock getting 2 wins from 2 starts. The latest win at Goodwood stakes was much improved. Khawneej's first run at 2m4f and can last the distance. 01/06/2012 - IRISH PREMIER LEAGUE

WILL BOHEMIANS BE ABLE TO DEFEND SLIGO'S ATTACK AT HOME?

Sligo Rovers currently tops the Irish Premier League table with 30 points from 13 matches at goal difference of +15. While Bohemians are struggling at 9th place with 14 points from 13 matches at goal difference of -4.

Current Form

Bohemians @ Home: 1-2-3 record. Last 4 league matches @ home - 1-1-2 record. Average goals scored and conceded p/m is just 0.67 and 1.17 respectively. Got 2 clean sheets.
Sligo @ Away: 4-1-1 record. Last 4 league matches away home - 3-0-1 record. Average goals scored and conceded p/m is 1.33 and 0.67 respectively. Got 2 clean sheets.

Head to Head

Overall - Bohemians 16: Draw 11: Sligo 18
@ Dalymount Park - Bohemians 10: Draw 5: Sligo 8. Bohemians's average goal scored p/m is 1.26 and conceded 0.87.
Last 6 matches - Bohemians 2: Draw 1: Sligo 3

Key Players

Irish Premier League's current top-scorer Danny North with 13 goals from 13 appearances will be the main danger for the host team. While for Bohemians, Ryan McEnvoy (4 goals) and Daniel Corcoran (3 goals) are their hopes. Danny North who scored 7 first goals this season will likely be score the first goal of the match for Sligo.

Sligo won comfortably 1-0 at home in their last meeting of the current season. They are currently on 3 match win-streak against Bohemians getting 3 clean sheets and the first goal were scored in the second half. Last 3 of their 4 respective league matches ended over 2.5 goals. Looking at both teams current form, I think this match belongs to Sligo Rovers.

Current season McCain-Maguire combo in hurdle shows 30% SR (8-27) @ LSP £8.27/£1. Ghaabesh will be out in the field tongue-tied. If he continues with his win form, I think he can make it two in a row easily.

My Prediction

2nd - Peaks Of Fire  3rd BF @ SP Evens
3rd - Muwalla            1st @ SP 6/1

He got 25% SR (2-8) in chase at this course in the last 5 seasons. Current season McCain-Maguire combo in chase shows 67% SR (2-3) @ LSP £2.88/£1. I think Whatshallwedo can defy his penalty and win this weak race making it two in a row at Sedgefield.

My Prediction

He got 1 win, 3 seconds and 3 thirds from 10 starts with The Darling Boy. In the last 5 seasons, Tom-Paddy combo shows 22% SR (46-209) in chase. Robert Johnson owned and trained 13yo gelding Toulouse Express is a course specialist. He ran here 14 times getting 4 wins and 2 seconds. It includes 1win and 1second from 3 starts at  3m3f. Although he was PU in his latest start here 2 months ago, I think he can perform well fresh. He got 71-7-11-9 career chase record. His jockey for 62 of 101 career starts, Kenny Johnson will be in the saddle again. This race will Kenny's first start of this season. Also this race will be the stable's seasonal jumps debut. Very poor trainer-jockey record but it reads different with Toulouse. He will be in the field with visor on as usual.

On his debut here he was 40/1 second place finisher and then 12/1 hard fought winner in the following race. Though both starts were on softer ground, I think he will be able to cope on faster ground. Brian Harding will be in the saddle again. He got 1 win from 4 starts on board Love. His only win from 6 starts this season came from Love showing level stake profit of £7.00/£1. This race will be Keeffe's second start of the season and will be looking for second consecutive win with Highland Love. Keeffe-Harding combo in the last 5 seasons shows 11% SR (3-28) with hurdlers.
